Registered and Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist        •       International Board Certified Lactation Consultant

My goal is to help people consume the best nutrition possible. Nutrition matters at every age!

Ensuring that your family is eating in the healthiest way possible is one of the most important steps you can take to provide the foundation for optimal health. However, up to a third of children may experience feeding difficulties at some point during childhood, and up to two thirds of children with chronic medical problems. Some parents need guidance through these delicate times, and I can help.

I have worked in pediatrics since 2005 and have extensive experience working with children and adults with a wide variety of medical conditions. I have worked in hospital settings helping children undergoing medical rehabilitation, weight management programs, and bone marrow transplantation; also in outpatient clinic settings helping children with many different types of feeding problems, special diets, and gastrointestinal issues. One of my favorite work endeavors has been teaching children’s cooking classes – helping children learn to cook simple, healthy recipes in a real kitchen setting.

My own breastfeeding difficulties inspired me to pursue lactation education as another means of helping parents optimally feed their babies, so I also became certified as a lactation consultant. Helping parents meet their own breastfeeding goals has become another of my passions, and I truly enjoy helping parents through this important and sometimes stressful time.

There are many reasons to seek Medical Nutrition Therapy. If you have any concerns about your child’s eating or diet, please contact me.  I take pride in educating families and being easily accessible to my patients as a trustworthy resource for accurate, up-to-date nutrition and lactation information.  My primary goal is helping you and your family reach their fullest potential and I will do everything in my power to help you get there.

I was born and raised in Houston, Texas, where I currently reside. I received my Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from the University of Texas at Austin and my Master of Science in Nutrition from Texas Woman’s University in Houston.  In addition, I completed the Leadership Education in Adolescent Health (LEAH) Fellowship through Baylor College of Medicine while attending graduate school. I have worked in pediatrics since 2005, and while it has always been my focus, I truly enjoy working with all ages to help people who want to improve their health. It is never too late to start eating healthy!

My spare time is mostly spent with my amazing family – my husband and two home-schooled daughters as well as extended family and friends. I also enjoy reading, traveling, gardening and helping my kids learn to love food and an active, healthy lifestyle.

I was recommended to see Sara through my daughter‘s pediatrician. I was having issues latching, and my supply was very low. Sara was very kind and informative on different latching techniques, and positions for breast feeding. She also educated on me how to know when my daughter is actually getting milk during feeds. She even weighed my daughter to accurately know if she was getting Milk during the feed at that time. She recommended supplements that I could take to increase my milk supply, and told me certain things to avoid that would lower my supply. With her professional advice I have seen a big increase in my supply. Before seeing Sara I was supplementing with formula. Now my baby is able to be strictly on breastmilk. As a 1st time mom, I was very anxious and stressed out before seeing her but she made me feel at ease. I recommend her 100%. Overall 10/10 experience.

Great lactation consultant!

I was referred to Sara by my son’s pediatrician. After overproducing, one day my supply shrank drastically and my son was only a little over 2 weeks at the time. I had not met Sara yet but frantically gave her a call the day after Thanksgiving. She gave me a call back and talked with me for almost a hour, giving me tips on how to get my supply back and within two days my supply increased. A few days later I met with her for an in-office visit and the experience was A+. After having to bottle feed due to weight issues with my son I didn’t think he would latch again and she showed me one position and he latched instantaneously. Sara is so kind and knowledgeable and supportive. I’d recommend her to anyone no matter where you are on your breastfeeding journey.
